Celebrating July in France with Justine Schofield

I love everything about France, and in particular French cooking. July is the perfect time to celebrate everything French, as they mark their national day, Bastille Day, on July 14.
If you’re lucky enough to be in France for this holiday, you will experience a whole weekend of celebrations in the summer sun, including delicious French food and wine, music, parades and fireworks display on the Eiffel Tower.
Join me for the Bastille Festival at the Rocks in Sydney
If you can’t spend Bastille Day in France, the next best thing is to head to the Bastille Festival in Sydney. This French-inspired winter festival has been celebrating the best of French food, wine and art in the Rocks since 2012.
Alongside Jason Roberts and other amazing Chefs, Tefal will be hosting the Tefal Chef Village in First Fleet Park where the ingenuity and creativity of French cooking will be on display. Come along and take part in live cooking demonstrations and elevate your cooking game to the next level!
How to celebrate July in France at home
If you can't make it to the festival, you can also host an authentic Bastille Day celebration at home. Tefal makes it easier than ever to master French cooking right in your own kitchen, helping you create dishes that will amaze and delight your family and friends.
With 60 years of French heritage, Tefal is your perfect kitchen companion, bringing a touch of France to your home cooking. Here are some of my favourite French recipes you can try at home to celebrate July in France.

Coq au Vin
This classic chicken stew dish is a quintessentially French dish full of rich flavours from the red wine. It’s the perfect winter dish, and a great way to enjoy traditional French cooking. The Tefal Cook4me touch makes it easy to prepare this delicious stew in just 45 minutes. Serve with potato puree to soak up those flavoursome juices

French Onion Soup
The ideal starter for your French feast, this soup is warm, cosy and full of flavour. What makes French onion soup different from regular onion soup? A splash of fortified wine is added to the soup to accentuate the sweetness of the onions and it's served with a decadent piece of Gruyere cheese toast. Use the Tefal i-Companion XL to prepare and cook this traditional French soup in less than 30 minutes.

Pear Clafoutis
When it comes to dessert for your authentic French meal, you can’t go past clafoutis. It’s like a flan, pancake and soufflé all in one! The texture is like a thick custard or pudding and the baked pieces of fruit will melt in your mouth. You can choose from a range of seasonal fruits, but pear is my favourite. Make it easy with the versatile Tefal Ingenio Titanium Fusion Induction set.

Provencal Capsicum and Anchovy Tart
This style of tart is a culinary specialty of the region of Nice. It is a variation of the onion tart, and it derives its French name Pissaladiere from Pissala, a puree of anchovies and sardines traditionally made in the region and spread on the tart dough. Cook with the Tefal Easy Fry Grill & Steam XXL FW2018 and enjoy with a glass of rosé for a light lunch.

This whole snapper with delicious capers butter recipe is a crowd-pleaser. Cook using the versatile Tefal Unlimited Induction Non-Stick Plancha for an easy and even cooking of the whole fish. Serve it with a bright, crisp salad of bitter leaves like frisee and fennel and radishes.
